The disc herniation is one of the most frequent pathologies in the neurosurgical practice. Localization of a portion or all of it in the intradural space is an uncommon complication that can be difficult to differentiate clinically and imagingly from both common hernias and intradural tumors. Its diagnosis is often presumptive until the moment of the surgical treatment. A clinical case of intradural lumbar disc herniation at the L2-L3 level is presented and a review of the pathogenesis, clinical features, imaging findings, treatment and prognosis of these lesions is performed.
La hernia discal es una de las patologías más frecuentes en la práctica neuroquirúrgica. La localización de una porción o la totalidad de ésta en el espacio intradural es una complicación infrecuente que con dificultad se puede diferenciar clínica e imagenológicamente tanto de hernias discales comunes como de tumores intradurales. Su diagnóstico muchas veces es presuntivo hasta el momento del tratamiento quirúrgico. Se presenta un caso clínico de hernia discal lumbar intradural, a nivel de L2-L3, y se efectúa una revisión de la patogenia, características clínicas, hallazgos imagenológicos, tratamiento y pronóstico de éstas lesiones.
