Minimally invasive surgical procedure performed through a single hole in the skull (monoportal), with the use of a neuroendoscope to allow the fenestration of the floor of the third ventricle, thus communicating the ventricular system with the subarachnoid space.
The third endoscopic ventriculostomy indications are: Obstructive or Non-Communicating Hydrocephalus (as the main indication) for: Silvio aqueduct stenosis, Tumor obstruction of cerebrospinal fluid circulation. In other types of hydrocephalus its efficacy is lower.
Procedimiento quirúrgico minimamente invasivo que se realiza a través de un solo agujero en el cráneo (monoportal), con el uso de un neuroendoscopio que permita realizar la fenestración del piso del tercer ventrículo comunicando así el sistema ventricular con el espacio subaracnoideo.
Las indicaciones tercer ventriculostomía endoscópica son: Hidrocefalia Obstructiva o No Comunicante (como principal indicación) por: Estenosis del acueducto de Silvio, Obstrucción tumoral de la circulación de líquido cefalorraquídeo. En los otros tipos de hidrocefalia su eficacia es menor.
