The academic activity of the neurosurgeons was performed at baseline in 1938 in the Peruvian Society of Neuro-Psychiatry and Legal Medicine which was only shortly after Peruvian Society for Neuro-Psychiatry and when the number of neurosurgeons was higher is nominated Peruvian Society of Psychiatry, Neurology and Neurosurgery.
In 1961 he inaugurated a Police Hospital Central Pavilion and 4 plants with capacity of 500 beds and is given the name of the Central Police Hospital "General Luis N. Saenz. "Humberto Hinojosa travels to the U.S. for graduate studies with Irving Cooper Esterotaxia surgery, to return the Police Hospital becomes the first team in the country Esterotaxia surgery and allows many operations of this type.
La Neurocirugía tiene como fundadores en forma sucesiva a Mauricio Dávila en 1944 en el Hospital de Policía, Esteban Roca en 1947 en el Hospital Obrero, Fernando Cabieses en el Instituto de Enfermedades Neoplásicas y Juan Franco en el Instituto de Ciencias Neurológicas. Posterior a estos servicios se han formado muchos más, dirigidos por eminentes y prestigiosos Neurocirujanos reunidos en lo que es la Sociedad Peruana de Neurocirugía. La actividad académica de los Neurocirujanos se realizó al inicio en 1938 en la Sociedad Peruana de Neuro-Psiquiatria y Medicina Legal que poco después fue solo Sociedad Peruana de Neuro Psiquiatria y cuando el número de Neurocirujano fue mayor se nomina Sociedad Peruana de Psiquiatría, Neurología y Neurocirugía.
En 1961 se inaugura el Hospital de Policía con un Pabellón Central y 4 plantas con capacidad de 500 camas y se le da el nombre de Hospital Central de Policía “General Luis N. Saenz”. Humberto Hinojosa viaja a EEUU para estudios de Post Grado con Irving Cooper en cirugía esterotaxia; al regreso el Hospital de Policía adquiere el primer equipo de cirugía Esterotaxia del país y permite realizar numerosas intervenciones quirúrgicas de este tipo.
